Microsoft doesn’t offer encryption services for personal OneDrive accounts; business and SharePoint online are the company’s only encrypted online storage platforms. This means if you want to use your own personal account through Microsoft’s cloud and not have to deal with potentially compromised information, you might have to encrypt your own data to ensure your files are secure. In addition, the company’s history of battling “privacy concerns” goes hand-in-hand with its reputation for tracking users without transparent disclosure.
If your employees rely heavily on Microsoft Office applications and documents, OneDrive may be for you. Formerly known as SkyDrive Pro, OneDrive for Business is part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of collaboration and productivity tools. The platform allows storage of any file type, but provides the best value and integration when saving, viewing and editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. Users can view and modify Office files within a browser or download them for local editing, or they can sync and share files with SharePoint. Microsoft’s OneDrive had an awkward youth, stumbling from Windows Live Folders, Windows Live SkyDrive, SkyDrive and now OneDrive. And it’s not quite as polished and easy to use as some competitors. For example, to share a file stored in OneDrive, you must go to the OneDrive website, while other services such as Dropbox let you share by right-clicking on a file on your hard drive. Nonetheless, OneDrive integrates nicely (no surprise) with Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft’s mobile apps, and it offers real-time collaboration in Office documents. A free plan gives you 5GB of storage –  more than Dropbox but considerably less than Google Drive. Office 365 personal subscribers get 1TB or 5TB of included OneDrive storage, a nice bonus.
The second element of the service is the Briefcase, which is a general online storage facility not linked to a specific PC. Here, via the web portal or your computer, you can upload and download files just as you would on Dropbox or OneDrive. These files can be accessed via your PC, phone or tablet, with apps being available for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
We are a startup that has to shares lots of large media files with clients. Google Drive is a good option if you're already invested in the Google ecosystem. Chances are you already have a Google account and are already using it, but if you're not, then creating an account is free and nets you 15GB of space to start with. Google storage takes into account all of your stuff from Gmail, Photos, and Drive, so depending on how you're using Google services, it may fill up quick (Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides don't count).
