Design-wise, the interface is clean, simple to understand, and when you finish the initial install the app immediately starts a backup of your system. We’d like to see the options of which folders you want in the cloud appearing first, but it’s an easy thing to quickly rectify. Still, presumptuous software is something that never finds us overjoyed.

The more important question, though, might be how prepared you are to live with Amazon’s stripped down cloud interface. It’s fine, just basic, which for novice users may be handy but could frustrate people who like to fiddle.

This cloud storage service used to offer an unlimited plan. But Amazon dropped that plan in 2017. Today, Amazon Prime member get 5GB of storage for use with Amazon Drive and unlimited photo storage with Prime Photos. OneDrive is one of the only services to integrate with free Office Web Apps, allowing you to work collaboratively on projects, much like in Google Docs. Yes, Amazon has its own cloud storage solution, aptly named Amazon Drive. You can sign up for this with your existing Amazon account (who doesn't use Amazon these days?) and you'll get a 3-month trial. This should be more than enough time to determine if Amazon Drive is for you. After that trial is up, you have three options, and none of them are free, unfortunately.

Tresorit offers a variety of personal, business and enterprise plans. It’s fairly easy to use, and you can designate any folder (called a ‘Tresor’) on your hard drive for syncing. But with no free file storage/syncing option and plans starting at $10.42/month for 200GB of storage, Tresoit is by no means your least expensive option. The free trial period is only two weeks and requires a credit card.
EBS is designed for workloads that require persistent storage accessible by single EC2 instances. And I find that cheaper solutions tend to create more headaches—or, worse, can be a lot slower than an established player like Google, or Dropbox, et cetera. Usually the service provider will have a user interface that any user can access on their website. This allows recipients to easily access files you send them. Dropbox gained popularity as a free consumer tool that enterprise IT often restricted, but the service has grown to provide features that businesses need, including encryption and integration with Microsoft Office 365. Syncing the latest file to everybody’s folder across many devices is a great way to distribute content and ensure people have access to the latest file.  However, challenges arise when edits are made and multiple people are collaborating and changing the same file.  Peoples hard work can be overwritten if you’re not implementing robust collaboration tools.  These popular and well-known cloud storage platforms don’t have robust features to support a secure collaboration process such as “Check-in and Check-out”. Within a manufacturing company, this should be a requirement when choosing a file management provider. CAD assembly files can have many contributors and are regularly edited by various teams.  Depending on the magnitude and complexity of your file, you may have teams working on different modules within the same assembly file performing alterations at the same time. without secure collaboration features such as the ability to check out a portion of an assembly, you are limited to locking down the whole file permitting only one person to edit.  without robust collaboration tools users resort to tedious file naming procedures that are not only time-consuming but ineffective – related errors include purchasing from the wrong bill of materials or even manufacturing from the wrong file version.
You could also just pass files back and forth via a service like MASV, if you’re sending archives of drafts and finished work to one another. It’s less useful if each client just wants to have a folder they can reference that’s full of everything you’ve worked on together: old and new projects, invoices, artwork, documents, spreadsheets, et cetera. Similarly, there’s Hightail—also worth considering, with the same kind of limitations.
Anyone can sign up for a free individual account on Box, but the service's endless list of sharing and privacy features were built specifically for business and IT users. Dropbox business the upload/download speeds were 1/10th our bandwidth (we have 600mbps download and got 60, and 250mbps upload and got 20mbps on Dropbox – not a big deal for personal users with more typical Internet speeds.) The deal breaker was that we couldn’t embed a file folder listing inside our client dashboard web page like we could with Google Drive.
